OBJECT: 1984.0112 – White Stole (Scarf)
DESCRIPTION: Limerick lace white stole/veil of top quality of work and design.
PATTERN: Flowers and leaves throughout. Elaborate caskets filled with spot in diamond.
STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES: Spot in diamond. Heavy darn. Light darn. Pulled seed. Cobwebs. Limerick Lace.
FIBRE: Silk net. Silk thread used – thicker cotton thread used in the outline.
SIZE: 36cm x 255 cm
DATE: 1880 -1900
COMMENTS: Damaged – but very beautiful piece. Top quality.
