OBJECT: 1979.0018 – Limerick lace stole.
DESCRIPTION: Stole with pattern at top and bottom.
PATTERN: Hexagon net, Scalloped edge. Three rows of tambour stitch along outline of stole. Outline of flowers done in Tambour. Pattern at both ends. Heavy darn and few filling stitches.
STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES: Heavy darn, Filling stitches, Scalloped edging. Limerick Lace.
FIBRE: Cotton thread used on cotton hexagon net.
SIZE: Depth 280cm x Width 54cm.
DATE: 1878.
COMMENTS: Quite a bit of damage. It looks like moth eaten because the tears seem to be aligned. Repair attempts.
