Launch of the redesigned beginner lace kit

As part of Heritage Week 2024, Friends of Lace Limerick are excited to invite you to the launch of the redesigned Limerick Lace Beginner Kit on Thursday, 22 August 2024 at 3pm.

The launch is taking place as part of our two-day pop-up exhibition(22 and 23 August, 10am to 4pm) in the centre of Limerick City, at 16 Roches St. (courtesy of Lumen Street Theatre).

In 2018, Toni O’Malley , supported by Friends of Lace Limerick, designed and produced a kit that was sold by Limerick Museum and used in all the classes we taught since. Based on the experience gained during the past years through teaching and dissemination, we have redesigned this kit to include basic step-by-step instructions. We recorded video footage showcasing all the steps for creating a small piece of Limerick lace. These videos form an integral part of our redesigned beginner’s Limerick lace kit.

This is just a short video to introduce Limerick lace and our group:

The redesign was supported by an Intangible Cultural Heritage grant from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media for Heritage Week 2024.

The videos will launch on the 22 August. You will be able to use the kit you acquired already.
