Amazing Lace Symposium Open Call

The Symposium will take place on 22 February 2025 at the Absolute Hotel Limerick. We will have a new room configuration – round tables with 10 seats (banquet style). We will also have a pop-up exhibition on the tables around the room circumference, like in previous years.

We are also proposing a new format: talks in the morning and lace-making workshops and small group discussions in the afternoon.

We would like to issue an open invitation to all lacemakers, lace enthusiasts, historians, artists and students who have an interest in lace to join us.

This year’s symposium theme will be “Connections” – in lace threads, in lace making communities on the island of Ireland, and between lace makers worldwide.

We are still looking for speakers, so if you have an idea for a talk, please leave us a few lines here (you will be able to go back and update the content):

For the first time in the history of the Symposium, we are planning to run 3-4 lace making workshops in the afternoon.

Please register your interest in giving a talk or running a workshop by the 21st of January!

Based on the interests of the participants, we will ask them to register separately with the instructor, and will only run those workshops that have at least 4 participants. The participants who are not interested in a lace workshop in the afternoon will be invited to join discussion tables on topics like: Lace education, Lace conservation, Lace-focused travel.

We hope to open registration in January 2025 via Eventbrite. There will be a charge, covering the cost of coffee breaks and lunch. 

Speakers for the morning sessions and teachers running workshops in the afternoon will receive complimentary tickets.
