Talk title: Borris Lace: stories behind the craft

Talk Abstract: This talk will focus on Samantha’s PhD research with Borris Lacemakers in Borris, Co. Carlow, Ireland.
Her work focuses on finding the meanings and significance associated with Borris Lace.
Using cultural mapping, walking interviews, artefacts and audio-visual material, my research aims to collect various memories, meanings, traditions, stories, values and future aspirations around the theme of Borris Lace.
It is hoped that the data gathered during this research will be used in the development of a Borris Lace Craft Trail which will help generate tourism to the area. This project is funded by the Irish Research Council.
