Amazing Lace Symposium 2024

Friends of Lace Limerick in collaboration with Limerick Museum are delighted to announce a new edition of the Amazing Lace Symposium for 23 March 2024 in Limerick. We aim to start at 10am (or 10:30) and finish before 5pm.

Two previous editions took place in October 2018 and November 2019.

The venue is the same: The Absolute Hotel, and we have booked a double meeting room that will allow us to also have a pop-up exhibition on the side.

We would like to issue an open invitation to all lacemakers, lace enthusiasts, historians, artists and students who have an interest in lace to join us.

In the morning, we are planning to have an open conversation about past and upcoming events planned for 2024.

The afternoon session will be dedicated to panel discussions.

We will also introduce our initiative of creating a Lace Trail on the island of Ireland, to mark the long history of lacemaking and connect the various lace making groups and lace artists.

We are attempting to design the programme with the participants in mind. If you would like to give a talk/presentation/demonstration, please email limericklace.ie by January 15, including:

  • Your name
  • The title of your talk/presentation/demonstration
  • A very brief abstract of the talk/idea (3-5 lines)
  • A 3 lines biography.

Registration will open on 20 January 2024 via Eventbrite.

If you wish to book a room in The Absolute Hotel for the night of 22-23 March, ring the hotel and mention the Amazing Lace Symposium.

This event is supported by Limerick City and County Council through the Festival and Events Grant Scheme.

I would like to book 2 places for the Symposium, please. I have a keen interest in Hand made Lace and Crochet.

Any chance we can watch via zoom or later if it will be taped?
