    OBJECT: 1988.0141 – Stole
    DESCRIPTION: Stole made in two sections – This piece appears to have been cut down. It was a square cut in two. Some of the edge is stitched on. When the square was in two the pieces were joined to make a stole.
    PATTERN: Floral.
    STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES: Tambour work – Silk thread on silk net.
    FIBRE: Silk thread on silk net.
    SIZE: 60 cm x 215 cm.
    DATE: 1875 – 1900.
    COMMENTS: Several holes.
    GIFT OF: Not known.

    OBJECT: 1988.0140 – Veil in Cream.
    DESRIPTION: Large Square. Tambour with numerous filling stitches.
    PATTERN: Diamond net. Some of the outline is in single thread and some worked with a thicker thread.
    STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES: Some Tambour Outline Also outline done with thicker thread. Heavy darn, Light darn. Knotty – Diamond – Caraway – Shell or Fern – Cobwebs – Some cutwork – Pearl edge.
    FIBRE: Silk thread on silk net.
    SIZE: 196cm x 218cm
    DATE: 1900 – 1920
    COMMENTS: Quite a bit of stains. Slight rust marks.
    GIFT OF: Not known.

    OBJECT: 2005.0072 – Stole.
    DESRIPTION: Limerick lace. Blonde work. Designed and made by Eileen O’Donohue of the Limerick Lace School.
    PATTERN: Eastern style pattern with diamond zigzag border followed by flower and leaf border at the two ends. The centre has a scattering of single flowers with leaves. Crochet edges and fringed at both ends.
    STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES: Limerick Lace & crocheted fringe.
    FIBRE: Raw Silk threads, possibly silk net. SIZE: Height 284 cm cm x Width 58 cm.
    DATE: 1900 – 1915.
    COMMENTS: Soiled – two or three patches, not rust.
