Lace Making in the Digital Age

Creative Ireland – Made in Limerick project – Registration now open

With the support of the Creative Ireland- Made in Limerick programme, Friends of Lace Limerick are offering training for lacemakers and artists in using digital fabrication. The training will take place in 4 consecutive Thursdays in Fablab Limerick  from 6:30 to 7:30pm, starting with 19 October 2023. After each session, the participants are invited to stay on for the Makers Night, the Makers’ Meetup & Craft Club, and use the Fab Lab equipment to work on their own projects.

The training will provide the participants with the necessary understanding and skills to use digital image processing, 3D printing and laser-cutting in their creative work.

These sessions will be complemented with two artist-led brainstorming workshops to explore new ideas for installations, small gifts and collaborations between artists and lacemakers.

If you wish to take part in the training, please fill in this form asap. The members of our group have priority, but the training will be open to others (lacemakers, crafters, students, artists),  if there are unoccupied places.

The initiative aims to make the Limerick lace tradition more appealing for the young generation, artists, students, urban designers and local communities. We will invite public input in the form of ideas and voting via social media channels and the limericklace.ie website.

This project is funded by Creative Ireland and Limerick City and County Council through Creative Ireland Made in Limerick.
